Outdoor lighting takes the full brunt of the desert: heat, sun, wind, and the occasional downpour. When something is wrong, it usually shows before it fails outright. If you notice any of these, it's worth having an electrician take a look.
Outdoor circuits are required to run through GFCI (shock prevention) protection because water and electricity share the same yard. A GFCI that trips now and then after a sprinkler cycle or a rainstorm is doing exactly what it should. One that trips constantly is telling you water is getting somewhere it shouldn't: a cracked fixture, a corroded connection, or a buried splice that was never sealed. On a low-voltage landscape run, the lights farthest from the transformer fading or flickering usually means voltage drop: the wire is too long, too thin, or overloaded for the number of fixtures on it. Desert sun and the occasional monsoon are hard on anything outdoors, and cheap connectors are the first to go. A fixture that eats bulbs every few months is rarely the bulb's fault.
